In the middle of wedding season last year the business made a move into its own space in Portland! It was a much needed move for us personally since Matt and I live in a charming but small house – the business had taken over and left us with little personal room. At the same time we were discussing our cramped quarters I was perusing craigslist and found an ad for the space I am in now. Cozy, but big enough for my work and for meeting clients it has been a wonderful addition to the business and has given Matt and I a bit more breathing room at home. This past month I was able to put some final touches on the studio and would like to share with you!
I am in a wonderful brick building at 1 Forest Avenue. The bottom floor of the building is Acoustic Artisans – an amazing group of talented guys who make violins, violas and cellos among other things. The building is always filled with music at night – sometimes music lessons and sometimes an impromptu bluegrass concert in the office. It is a wonderfully creative space!

My studio is on the 3rd floor in between 39 Steps Studio (mixed media) and Remarkable Blackbird (henna artist)!

My parents are still able to surprise me on my birthday! This year they gave me this great sign for my door!

A peak in from the door…

When I set about decorating this space I wanted a comfortable place for clients to come and meet me, view products and get to know a bit about me. I found the best way for me to do that was to share my love of vintage and handmade things in the studio with the albums and prints and canvases. And now for the results!

I adore L.L.Bean! and have a small addiction to their canvas totes. When it came time to set up my packaging workstation the totes were the perfect choice and of course I was able to monogram them:)

When I lost my dog Calliope last year Matt went out and bought me this family of dogs! They aren’t the same as my furry companion but they remind me that even when I am working late into the night I have someone to keep my company:)

Comfy couch built for two – just right for the couples who come to visit me!

The studio showcases several inspiration boards from recent weddings – it gives my clients the chance to see what is possible with their photography as well as some real life images taken at local wedding venues. This board was from Becky and Steve’s wedding at Pineland Farms.

True to my goal of designing with things I love this is a replica of the very first camera my mother ever had, I also have her tripod which she used to film JFK’s funeral. My mother was the picture-taker/film-maker in my family.

Vintage and handmade! Including a wooden waste basket my grand-father made when he was in high-school around 1918!

Stacks of albums ready for clients to view.

Some of my work is children/family photograpy so I make sure to keep a little area just for them full of candy and crayons:) I recently relaunched the site: audrabayettekids.com

On the way out there is additional product information for clients.

I love visitors – so if you are in the mood for Otto’s pizza come on by and we can have a slice (or two!) and get to know each other.

audra
