A few weeks ago I attended a wonderful day long workshop on Boudoir Photography by the ultimate Tess J.  I LOVED IT!  Admittedly I had just gotten home from Roots 2 days earlier, I was dog tired, and had a ton of laundry to do but as soon as I got to the studio the vibe of the day infused me with some much needed energy!

The workshop was great, the models were amazing and I was able to work with fabulous Beth Fitzgerald from Blush Imagrey (thank you Beth!)

Working on boudoir is so different from the photojournalist work we did at Roots.  And even though I loved Roots I loved shooting and editing this type of session as well.  It allows me to work one on one creativley with a client, spend some time getting to know them and then of course delivering them images that will make them scream with delight!

If you are an existing client of mine expect an email this week with an offer to take the dive!!!

If you are not an existing client of mine but would like to get in on the Boudoir action I am now accepting a limited number of bookings for my Boudoir For Christmas sessions – drop me an email and we can set up some time to chat!

And because this post would be CRAZY without images here is some of my work from the workshop!

I am excited to be posting Cathy and Jason’s engagement session!  Cathy found me through a friend at work whose child I had just photographed and she emailed me about some engagement images.  They are getting married this September in Vermont and while they had their wedding photographer all lined up what they wanted was some pictures of the two of them!  I was thrilled when they asked me to do that!

Cathy and Jason’s love story is adorable – both knew from day one that they were perfect for each other!  Love at first date is a wonderful!!!   Jason asked Cathy to marry him during a hike in Vaughn Woods so we started out there hiking through the woods to the place where Jason asked Cathy to marry him!

After our time in the woods we headed down to York Beach.   Golden light, the sound of waves and an adorable dress made the rest of our session perfect!

Where do I start!

This session has been in the making for months and all of the planning and anticipating was so worth it!

From my very first meeting wtih Justin and Christina they talked about doing a 50’s style engagement session.  It seemed crazy not to  considering Justin’s uncle had a passion for restoring vintage cars and they would have their pick of cars for the session.  I spent most of my first 20 minutes walking around gawking at the cars – all I could think was “My parents would love this”.  Whenever an “old” car drives by my parents tell me the make, model and year and then tell me all about how cars were special back then and how there were only so many releases a year which made it a big event!  I knew right off that my parents had nothing on Justin’s uncle.  His work was just amazing.

The outfits, the hair, the attitude – it all just screamed awesomeness!  Christina’s hair had just the right amount of style and sass.  Justin was a NATURAL for the camera and often was in position before I was done getting my lighting right.  They were a joy to work with and these images make me giddy every time I look at them!

This post clearly should have less words and more images because they do all the talking….

Our initial car was what they kept referring to as a bucket car – I am showing my car ignorance here but it had this great vintage feel to it.

I think this image is pure hotness – I am LOVING the mood and the black and white!

Next we moved onto a ‘59 Oldsmobile in Cherry Red – a perfect color pop to Christina’s yellow coat

When I asked them if they were handholders they said “no pinkie holders”:)

As the session wound down we busted out the Monopoly (Ok Horseopoly) board.  During the prep for the session I learned that they both loved to stay up late into the night playing Monopoly.  I think engagement sessions are about capturing who you are as a couple before you get married – so out the board came!
