January 20th wasn’t just a big day because we inaugurated the first African American president – it was also my birthday!  Every four years I share my day with a big event and this year I couldn’t have been happier.  For those that know me you know I do not have cable TV (by choice:)) so when Matt was planning my birthday celebration all I cared about was that I was in front of a tv, with cable, so I could watch the days events!

I celebrated my birthday the entire weekend starting on Saturday morning with brunch at my parents.  That is where my sisters gave me the gift that just might rocket me to stardom – Sing Star Abba and Sing Star Microphones.  I am not embarrassed to admit that I snuck home by myself for the afternoon and practiced Mamma Mia and Souper Trouper before we headed over to my sisters that night for a small competition.  I know Sing Star is fun to play with people but I am just as happy at home along signing my heart out!:)

Sunday it snowed, because what would January be without snow, and then Monday Matt whisked me off to a surprise birthday getaway!  We went to the MGM Grand hotel at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut.  It was so much fun!  Matt rented a suite so we had plenty of TVs and the best part was the room had a huge jacuzzi tub!  I love to take a baths and there is nothing better than a huge tub!  Matt surprised me further by sending me to the spa on my actual birthday, and after the inauguration, for a deep tissue massage that was badly needed!  I had such a wonderful time and it was such a great birthday overall!   Interestingly I didn’t shoot that much while we were away but Matt did capture some funny moments at my birthday brunch!
