What was your favorite gift?

December 30, 2008

I am hard pressed to name a favorite gift I received this Christmas – they were all wonderful in their own way. But IF I had to name one I would have to say this would be it. A few months ago Matt gave me an antique postcard of a Congregational Church in W. Brooksville, ME that I love. For Christmas he made my new collection of Congregational Church postcards one heavier by giving me this one.

This is the church I grew up in! I loved this church and whenever I evaluate how a congregational church looks (white on the outside, maroon runner down the aisles, wooden pews) I use this one as my standard. This gift was so sweet and touched me so much I burst into tears when I opened it! Matt is just about the best gift giver I have ever known!

What did you receive that you loved?

This weather is crazy!

The weather this weekend was nuts! It was so warm my rhododendron is confused and is now blooming! Hopefully it stops and holds on until Spring because I hear we are getting snow again this week!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I am looking forward to New Years Eve – we have a Sing Star competition at my sisters house and then I cook a big brunch on New Years Day. The best part is January 1st starts the official countdown to my birthday – January 20th!!

The Letter P

December 20, 2008

ello all!

The first of two winter storms this weekend arrived!  There is nothing I like more than being tucked into my cozy house on a stormy night with food and movies and my boyfriend – and that is just what I had last night!  I love winter for the hibernating – I get to stay home (which is what I love most) and doing “stuff” and my stuff I mean watching movies, working on some crafts, planning next years garden – all the stuff I don’t get to do when its beautiful weather out and we are busy busy busy!

So, now back to my blogging!  Yesterday my good friend Erin participated in a meme on her blog and she wanted me to join in!  I signed up and was given the letter “P” (she handed this one to me).  The rules are easy: Write about ten things you love that begin with your assigned letter and post it on your blog. When people comment on your list, you assign them a letter, and so on.

So here goes, and if you would like to participate just leave a comment and I can get you a letter!

The Letter P

Photography – This one seems so obvious it almost doesn’t need typing.  But then I realized that I should put it on here in case people think I have been hit in the head or my blog has been taken over by a stranger.

Pineapples - I love fruit and this one is super yummy – I just wish it wasn’t so hard to get into.

Pizza – I fear this is becoming about food…. I LOVE PIZZA and could easily eat it every meal of every day if it wasn’t for the high fat count and calories.

Pedals – As in the pedals on my bike.  A few years ago I bought a 3 speed bike with a bell and a basket on the front.  I would ride it to my mother’s house on Sunday mornings or down to the farm stand to get vegetables.  And even though I didn’t get to ride it very much this summer because of the renovation work I was doing I love my bike!  Its now in the basement by the laundry and when I go down there I look longingly towards it and can’t wait for spring!

Petal Cups – These are little itty bitty potter cups made by Rowantrees Kiln in Blue Hill Maine.  I am not sure I love them but Matt does and when he loves something and it makes him happy then it makes me happy as well.

Party – Who doesn’t love a party?  I like planning the party sometimes more than the party itself but that’s because I get to use my artsy side.

Parade – When I was a kid we had something called the Pet Parade where you got to bring your pets and walk them in the parade.  It was a BIG deal and every year people from the surrounding 5 towns would come to it.  I loved it.  When I was in high school I was in the band for the sole reason of being able to march in the parade in the spring.  I loved the way the drums kicked off our marching.  I still love parades today.

Pears – OK this might be my favorite fruit, not just one of, but again this isn’t a list about food.

Peeps – You know those marshmallow candies you can get at Easter time – well I love those and my sisters can not figure out how I can love those things so much!  You can imagine how excited I was when they started making them for all the holidays!

Pigs- Someday I would like to be able to raise my own food and have pigs on my property.  I am not yet sure I could raise them to eat them but maybe we could just have them as pets.

OK this was harder than I thought but a good exercise for a snowy Saturday!  I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful snow!
